Stored Keys
A necessary evil of modern society, the lock and key has been the staple of access control for centuries. Great for controlling an individuals access to a specific location, key management proves much more troublesome when multiple people all require access to a shared resource, such as a store cupboard or car.

Fortunately, with SupplyPoint key control has been updated to meet the requirements of the information age, and is included as a free component of SPS Complete. A stored key, for example to a store cupboard, is entered into the system and assigned an electronically controlled storage location. Items contained within the store are then assigned to the key.

When a user 'Adam' requires an item held within the store, the system vends him the required key. Adam is then able to unlock the store, obtain him item, and return the key to the machine. Should anyone else require other items from the store, in this example Becky, while Adam has the key, She will be informed that Adam currently has the key, allowing Adam and the key to be traced and Becky to also obtain her item.

Managed Keys provide a total audit trail providing a powerful tool for the management of pool cars, automatically recording who was responsible for the vehicle in the event of an insurance dispute.
